Months into 2018, urgency on climate change hasn't dulled. In fact, with storms, blizzards, floods and power outages, the need for action is becoming ever-more visible. Fortunately, the legislature and governor are considering major action on climate and the environment. In the menatime, we need advocates to keep calling, calling, calling until the legislature acts! A quick status report on Mass Power Forward priorities:

We're In This Together: Advancing Clean Energy and Fighting Fracking from Pennsylvania to Massachusetts

We love clean energy. We love our families. We love a healthy, sustainable future. On February 14th, members of the Mass Power Forward coalition will descend on Beacon Hill to demand that our legislators do everything they can to protect what we love. The stakes have never been higher. With climate deniers running the show in Washington, DC, we NEED Massachusetts to step up and lead. Massachusetts residents from every part of the state will meet with their representatives and senators to make the case for clean energy.

Rising seas. Blizzard weather. A climate denier in the White House. It’s time for Massachusetts to act on climate change. Can you call your state legislators today to take urgent action on clean energy this session?

If you don’t know who represents you, look up your state elected officials at wheredoivotema.com or https://malegislature.gov/StateHouse/Contact.

Please take a moment to call your legislator using the guidelines below.

On Wednesday, 9/13, Mass Power Forward initiated a "stand-in" to urge Governor Baker to lead on climate change. The coalition is calling on Governor Baker to issue an executive order to do all in his power through statewide and regional initiatives to move us toward clean energy and reject new fossil fuel infrastructure. Read our letter to the Governor.

The Massachusetts Sierra Club, Clean Water Action, Mass Energy Consumers Alliance and local partners are hosting a series of trainings on clean energy, particularly the renewable portfolio standard. Please contact us to schedule a training in your community!

This month, Mass Power Forward launched local 100% Renewable campaigns with press events in Franklin County and on the North Shore. In Greenfield, Western Mass activists gathered with State Rep. Paul Mark and Greenfield Mayor Martin to celebrate progress on clean energy and commit to pushing further with local outreach campaigns across Franklin County, the Berkshires and the Pioneer Valley.

Massachusetts beat back the Northeast Energy Direct pipeline, but Kinder Morgan has been granted permission for its Connecticut Expansion project, which impacts Sandisfield, MA in the Berkshires. Pipeline fighters are asking for allies to call on Congress.

UPDATE: Senators Warren and Markey have sent a letter to FERC. Read the letter here

Here's the bad news: Eversource Energy is proposing a large rate increase, coupled with fees on solar energy and a structure that reduces customer control as well as incentives for cost-saving energy efficiency. You can oppose this right now!

Over the past years, five pipeline expansions have been proposed in Massachusetts. Right now, the Kinder Morgan Connecticut Expansion pipeline - which is proposed for Sandisfield, MA, and would harm protected lands and waters in Otis State Forest as well as indigenous stone ceremonial landscapes, is hitting a major milestone that could set the tone for future pipeline permits.
